a guide to a classic: the leather jacket

Gone are the days when a leather jacket was the sign of rebellion. Today the leather jacket is a standard fixture in any good wardrobe. The new, revamped leather jacket looks great with any outfit and can suit both day and night time occasions.

According to stylist Jess Cartner-Morley, some of the world’s top fashion retailers consider the leather jacket a staple in their stores, with women from 25 to 55-years-old drawn to the “safe” style of jacket.

A leather jacket is no longer reserved for being teamed with a t-shirt and jeans. For those who love a good dress, a leather jacket can be a welcome addition to your wardrobe. A leather jacket over a summer dress is the “middle ground”, when a blazer looks too formal and a cardigan too plain.

A black leather biker jacket is super cute, but if you are after a bit more of the rebellious look go for a “beaten up” jacket. More sleek designs are also available for something a bit more fitted.
