On Saturday the 19th of May, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially became husband and wife, and were given the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex. There were smiles, there were tears and many stand out moments. If you happen to miss out on the live broadcast, we’re here to fill you in on the highlights of this outrageously grand, fairy-tale wedding that mesmerised the world.
Megan Markle wore a long sleeved Givenchy dress by British Designer Claire Waight Keller that featured a simple and delicate design with an open neckline and a 5 meter long floral veil that payed tribute to the 53 countries of the Commonwealth. She also wore a stunning, sparkly tiara that was a family heirloom, the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau.
Romance is in the air
Harry looked teary eyed as he saw his bride to be for the first time in her wedding dress. As they exchanged vows, audiences skilled at lip reading would have caught him whispering, “You look amazing... I am so lucky.” [Queue all women around the globe swooning]
Harry and Meghan held hands throughout almost all of the ceremony and Harry later made a heartfelt speech praising his wife and proclaiming, “I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.
Proud mum moment
Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland was seen sitting front row, and was visibly emotional as she watched her daughter get married. What a proud mum moment!
Bishop Curry’s Speech
Reverend Bishop Michael Curry preached words of love from Martin Luther King and addressed the audience who were either transfixed by the passion of his speech or bemused, trying to hold their giggles in.
Ah the kiss! The newlywedded Duke and Duchess shared a royal kiss in front of crowds as they walked out of the chapel. They then proceeded through the Cambridge Gate in the Ascot Landau Carriage, waving at fans and thanking everyone. Love was definitely in the air.
