Woman of the Month: Camila Cabello

This year’s 2018 Grammy Awards called for usual glitz and glamour, but one shone the brightest above all, captivating all eyes and cameras. Camila Cabello, former Fifth Harmony member and artist of the hit single ‘Havana’, stunned the red carpet in a strapless red bodycon gown, with a white rose in one hand to showcase her support for the ‘Time’s Up’ Initiative against sexual harassment. Beyond her stunning looks and musical talent, Camila is also a powerful advocate for children immigrant's basic human rights in the US and children's rights worldwide - and she's only 20!

Not only did her red-carpet appearance generate a deeper adoration for the singer-songwriter, her empowering performance alongside other inspirational female artists to Kesha’s ‘Praying’ had the ability to lift souls. Following the performance, Camila delivered a powerful speech, recognising all of the children of undocumented immigrants and their plight to stay in the US:

“I'm a proud Cuban-Mexican immigrant, born in Eastern Havana, standing in front of you on the Grammy stage in New York City, and all I know is, just like dreams, these kids can't be forgotten and are worth fighting for".

Having undertaken past experiences as a child immigrant, Camila had shared her family’s journey to the US through various media such as her feature on MTV as well as through her empowering essay, published on PopSugar.

Camila is also highly recognised for her own individual efforts in the music industry. Some of her achievements include winning an MTV Europe Music Award, three iHeartRadio Much Music Video Awards, the Billboard Women in Music award and many other awards and nominations all before the age of 20!
 
Aside from her success in music, Camila also uses her influence to fight for positive social change. She is highly acknowledged in her philanthropic contributions, having partnered with Save the Children in 2016 to raise awareness of issues surrounding young female’s access to education, health care and opportunities to succeed. Camila also contributed in creating the charity single ‘Power in Me’ as well as encouraging her fans to assist her in donations to the Children’s Health Fund.
